Ahmed Samir
a researcher and master student at the University of Central Europe in Austria, He was born in 1992.

He is currently remanded in custody pending Case No. 65 of 2021 on charges of joining an illegal group.

When he was returning to Egypt on December 15, 2020 to spend a winter vacation there, he was stopped at Sharm el-Sheikh airport and interrogated, and released shortly after. While he was on a trip in the Dahab city in South Sinai on January 23, 2021, Police forces stormed his home in Cairo without a warrant and asked his family to tell him to go to the police station upon his return home.

Upon his return to Cairo, he voluntarily went to the police station on February 1, 2021, and was forcibly disappeared for 5 days, after which he appeared in the State Security Prosecution and was accused of joining an illegal group and publishing false news in Case No. 65 of 2021.
Ahmed proved that he was tortured during the enforced disappearance.

To date, he is remanded in custody pending the case after his detention was renewed for 15 days pending investigation during the last investigation session on March 16, 2021, although the State Security Prosecution or National Security did not provide any evidence to prove the validity of the accusations against him.
